CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – Anita Lynn Purkey, 54, passed away on April 16, 2021, at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky. She was born in Montgomery, West Virginia; daughter of the late William Walter and Victoria Lynn Redman Woods. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Bexleigh Rose Purkey, and her uncle, David Allen Woods. Anita was a member of Fort Gibson United Methodist Church in Castlewood, Virginia, and a former member of Dante Rescue Squad and Castlewood Rescue Squad. Anita loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family. She really enjoyed making people smile. She is survived by her two sons, Bob Purkey and Brandon Purkey and wife, Roseanne, both of Castlewood, Virginia; two grandchildren, Kassian and Anniston Purkey; one brother, Billy Woods and wife, Amber of Castlewood, Virginia; the father of her children, Bob Purkey of Castlewood, Virginia; and ten nieces and nephews. Following the COVID-19 restrictions set forth by the Governor of Virginia on face-covering requirements and social distancing, Funeral Services for Anita Lynn Purkey will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel in Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Dr. Kevin Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021, in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia. A radio broadcast of the service will be available on the Castlewood Funeral Home parking lot on radio station 88.9 FM during the service for those who would like to remain in your vehicle.
