James Herbert White

CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – James “Herbert” White, 83, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Ballad Health Hospice House, Bristol, Tennessee. He was born in Trammel, Virginia; son of the late James Granville and Annie Leftwich White. He was preceded in death by several brothers; and several half-brothers and half-sisters. Herbert retired from the United States Air Force. He was a recruiter and a weapons instructor for pilots. He retired as a Master Sargent from the Air Force and later retired from American Electric Power Company. He is survived by his wife, Charlene “Cookie” White; one daughter, Sheryl Pientka and husband, Rick of Wise, Virginia; two sons, James Alan White of Bristol, Virginia and Steven Wayne White of Castlewood, Virginia; four sisters, Faye Roberts of Abingdon, Virginia, Margaret Jones and husband, Fred of Abingdon, Virginia, Nancy Hall and husband, Danny of Bristol, Virginia, and Alice Wooldridge of Tennessee; three brothers, Charlie White and wife, Peggy of Wytheville, Virginia, Howard White and wife, Janie of Castlewood, Virginia, and Lee White and wife, Norma of Blountville, Tennessee; several half-brothers and half-sisters; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for James “Herbert” White will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2022, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Woody Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Military Rites will be conducted by Shaw Air Force Base Honors Guard. Pallbearers will be Larry Hall, Rick Pientka, Alan White, Steve White, Jessee Hagan, and Blake Pientka. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia.
