Jessee Dan Hackney Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

LEBANON, VIRGINIA – Jessee Dan Hackney, 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at his home. He was born in Russell County, Virginia; son of the late Laughton and Addie Sutherland Hackney. He was preceded in death by four sisters; and seven brothers. Jess retired from Clinch River Power Plant and owned Hackney Construction Company. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Castlewood, Virginia where he was a member, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher since 1972. He was also a faithful member of the Over the Hill Gang. His favorite hobbies included fishing, and working in his garden where he enjoyed growing his big tomatoes. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Zola Lou Hackney; one daughter, Lisa Jessee and husband, George of Lebanon, Virginia; one son, David Hackney and wife, Linda of Mt. Carmel, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Kayla Johnson and husband, Jeremiah of Lebanon, Virginia, Rachael Ferguson and husband, Austin of Bristol, Tennessee, and Andrew Jessee and fiancé, Jessica Dye of Lebanon, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Jessee Dan Hackney will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1667 Calvary Baptist Road, Castlewood, Virginia 24224 with Pastor Travis Price and Rev. Rick Gibson officiating. Committal Service and Interment will be conducted Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Russell Memorial Cemetery, Lebanon, Virginia. Family and Friends will meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m., Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Greg Elam, Jay Powers, Bert Peterson, Wayne Helbert, Wade Holbrook, Doc Adams, Kenny Hamilton, and Freddie Wallace. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Over the Hill Gang. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1667 Calvary Baptist Road, Castlewood, Virginia 24224.
