Malissa Marie Puckett

February 4, 1935 - February 26, 2022

DUNGANNON, VIRGINIA – Malissa Marie Puckett, 87, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at her daughter's home in Trenton, Georgia. She was born in Dante, Virginia; daughter of the late John Floyd and Harriett Victoria Williams Heaton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ray Puckett Sr.; two brothers, James Heaton and James Baldwin; one daughter-in-law, Leslie Puckett; and one son-in-law, Bill Cook. Marie was a lifelong member of the House of Prayer Church on Sinking Creek. She enjoyed quilting and cooking. Above all, she loved her family and loved spending time with them. She is survived by three daughters, Deborah Stoots and husband, Darrell of Lebanon, Virginia, Connie Canaday and husband, Dennis of Jonesborough, Tennessee, and Donna McBryar and husband, Gary of Trenton, Georgia; four sons, Glenn Ray Puckett Jr. and wife, Barbara of Castlewood, Virginia, William John Puckett and wife, Brenda of Fort Blackmore, Virginia, Rick Puckett of Fort Blackmore, Virginia, and Emory Lynn Puckett of Dungannon, Virginia; three sisters, Velva Thompson and husband, Horace of Hickory, North Carolina, Martha Lou Williams of Conover, North Carolina, and Dr. Mary Thompson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother, Jimmy Sigmon of Hickory, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Malissa Marie Puckett will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Lawrence Hollyfield and Rev. Howard Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Puckett, John Henry Puckett, and Ronnie Puckett. Due to COVID-19, the family requests those attending the Visitation and Services to wear a mask and practice social distancing. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia. Her daughter, Connie Canaday, will also receive friends any time after 2:00 p.m., Sunday at her home, located at 1004 Mew Road, Castlewood, Virginia 24224.
