CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – Robert Lee “Bob” Statzer, 82, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021, at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tennessee. He was born in Castlewood, Virginia; son of the late Andrew and Anna Mae Cole Statzer. He was preceded in death by one sister, Dana Sullins; one brother, Johnny Statzer; and son-in-law, Lowell Peters. Bob was of the Baptist faith. He worked road construction, mostly driving a motor grader, for nearly forty years. In his younger days, he loved fishing. After retirement, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Edna Sexton Statzer; one son, David Statzer and wife, Misty of Castlewood, Virginia; three daughters, Regina Mullins and husband, Gary of Castlewood, Virginia, Karen Peters of Castlewood, Virginia, and Deborah Hubbard and husband, Ronnie of Lebanon, Virginia; three grandchildren, Rebecca Statzer and fiancé, Josh Hooper, Jordan Peters, and Gracie Statzer; four step-grandchildren, Mindy Combs, Corey Mullins, Kim Stallard, and Cory Hubbard; nine step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandson; one sister, Joyce Cornett and husband, Terry; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hubert and Peggy Meade; and several nieces and nephews. Following the COVID-19 restrictions set forth by the Governor of Virginia on face-covering requirements and social distancing, Graveside Services and Interment for Robert Lee “Bob” Statzer will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Phillip Statzer officiating. Family and friends will go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Gene Keith, Johnny Keith, Eddie Meade, Teddy Meade, Corey Mullins, and Doug Sullins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wilkie Hurd, Hubert Meade, Gary Mullins, Ronnie Hubbard, and Jordan Peters. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2021, in Castlewood Funeral Home in Castlewood, Virginia.
