Shirley Phillips Castle Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

ABINGDON, VIRGINIA – Shirley Phillips Castle, 82, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2020, at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tennessee. She was born in Dante, Virginia; daughter of the late Frank and Erma Mazella Kilgore Phillips. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen R. Castle; two brothers, Verel Phillips and Robert Phillips; one sister, Ruth Phillips Powers; and a special friend, Fines L. Dishman, Sr. She is survived by her two daughters, Nina Castle White and husband, John of Abingdon, Virginia and Rhonda Castle Anderson and husband, Brian of Abingdon, Virginia; one son, Ronald Shane Castle and wife, Michelle of Castlewood, Virginia; six grandchildren, Nikki White, Amanda Sells, Emily Castle, Ben Anderson, Sophia Couch, and Haley Anderson Hilliard; four great-grandchildren; Jackson Combs, Ava Combs, Camilla Sells, and Nathan Sells; two sisters, Carol Sue Ramsey and husband, Doug of Dante, Virginia and Gay Dabbs and husband, Don of Rockford, Illinois; two brothers, Roger Phillips and wife, Mary Ann and Ed Phillips and wife, Jean both of Rockford, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Following the COVID-19 restrictions set forth by the Governor of Virginia on face-covering requirements and social distancing, a Private Funeral Service, only for the immediate family, for Shirley Phillips Castle will be conducted in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel in Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Darnell Keith officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be John White, Brian Anderson, Ben Anderson, Nathan Sells, Clint Sells, and Jackson Combs. Honorary Pallbearer will be Mike Winebarger. Friends may come and sign the register book and pay their respects on Friday, December 11, 2020, at Castlewood Funeral Home in Castlewood, Virginia in the foyer during regular business hours. A radio broadcast of the service will be available on the Castlewood Funeral Home parking lot on radio station 88.9 FM during the private service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2020, for those to remain in their vehicle.
