W. Chester Bolling

December 11, 1925 - September 17, 2021

CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – W. Chester Bolling, 95, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021, at his home. He was born on December 11, 1925, in Flat Gap, Virginia to the late Jessee O. and Della Kilgore Bolling. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ina Bolling; three brothers, Kyle, Paul, and Darrel Bolling; two sisters, Thelma Shortt and Betty Sue Brown; and his son-in-law, Sonny Townes. Chester was a member of Mills Chapel Church and attended Hamlin Baptist Church. He was a member of the Castlewood Lions Club, a member of the Pound Masonic Lodge #59 A.F. & A.M., and a member of the St. Paul Masonic Lodge #343 A.F. & A.M. where he received his plaque for seventy-five years of service. He loved his garden. He also loved to play Rook and Cribbage and hated to lose. Chester loved God, his family, friends, his community, and his country. He is survived by one daughter, Debra B. Townes; two grandchildren, Kelly Meade and husband, Jeff of Castlewood, Virginia and Brian Townes and wife, Carrie of Piney Flats, Tennessee; one great-grandson, Logan Meade and fiancé, Mallory Mullins; beloved, special sister-in-law, Jane Bolling; and a clan of nieces and nephews who totally loved and adored him. Funeral Services for Chester Bolling will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel in Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Woody Scott and Rev. Henry Wayne Meade officiating. A Masonic Service, conducted by St. Paul Lodge #343 A.F. & A.M., will begin at 3:45 p.m. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Love Mausoleum at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Brian Townes, Logan Meade, Larry Shortt, Larry Dingus, W. J. Adkinson, and Bob Ramey. Due to COVID-19, the family requests those attending the Visitation and Services to wear a mask and practice social distancing. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Castlewood Funeral Home in Castlewood, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Special thanks to Rebecca Varney for her love and devoted care; Aides and Staff of Home Nursing Company; everyone at Caris Hospice for the love, compassion, and devotion for our Papaw, making his transition peaceful; and Lois Harrison for her loving and caring heart, she was truly an angel sent by God just at the right time.
